Inglese Della Torre Luigi
Pagine speciali > TRADUZIONE
I met Gino when I started competing, in 1988 I joined the Federation and my teammates took me to see how the Italian championships were held.
The first I got to see was the double at Cinisello Balsamo, won by Della Torre / Caffa.
It was a world that fascinated me, the adrenaline of the race seemed untouchable, full of energy and without fear of anyone.
Over the years I started touring, playing tournaments everywhere. The City of Turin was an International and I wasn't ready yet, but I followed my teammates to breathe in the atmosphere of high-level competitions.
Gino was already part of sporting history, he was also an advisor, yet he was always among the players, and I liked that. Of course, the years saw me grow up and fight against what Gino and others represented, which is why our friendship began with a war.
It took two years of very hard fighting and even a denunciation of him to reach the turning point, but in the end we lowered our weapons and spoke with our hearts in our hands, without anger, and without barriers.
From that day on, our worlds began to get closer and closer, until our goals became the same.
I think a friendship that comes from the ashes of a war is the most beautiful thing that can happen to two people who share the same passion and desire to do.
Now he's gone too, he'll already be with everyone else organizing tournaments, discussing rules, and cheering for Caffa.
I am left with the many memories, the beautiful experiences I had with him, the emotions of the victories, and the discussions about the things we could do that remained in the drawers.
Last time on the phone I promised him I would go visit him, but he left too soon, and I will come visit you anyway, but we won't go to dinner as always, but I will greet you with a prayer.
Hi Gino, I'll miss you ….
